Orlando Pirates, or The Mighty Buccaneers as they are known in the football world, have bolstered their squad with some eye-catching signings as the Soweto team prepares for an improved 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.
Goodman Mosele, Monnapule Saleng, Bandile Shandu and Kwanda Mngonyama have boarded the Orlando Pirates ship in deals that are more about quality than quantity.
Goodman Mosele is a PSL Young Player of the Season winner who is on national duty with the U23 team that is going to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan. The 21-year old midfielder who made 28 appearances for Baroka FC last season, scoring once, has signed a four-year contract.
In Monnapule Saleng, Orlando Pirates have signed an attacking midfielder who finished last season as the top goal-scorer in the GladAfrica Championship. He is part of the South Africa squad that is competing in COSAFA Cup which gets underway tomorrow at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Salen has signed a three-year deal.
Kwanda Mngonyama and Bandile Shandu are both big coups for Orlando Pirates as they join as free agents. Mngonyama’s talent is indisputable and if he and Thulani Hlatshwayo play to full potential then the Buccaneers will become very hard to penetrate. The former Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player Award winner has put pen to paper on a two-year deal while Shandu has signed a three-year contract.
