Jesse Donn has had an impactful start to the 2021/2 DSTV Premiership season with Pretoria side, Supersport United. The young midfielder holds aspirations of one day playing in Europe, but for the moment is very happy to stay under the tutelage of Kaitano Tembo and the Supersport United technical team.
“Obviously as a player, you always want to keep growing and I want to see myself playing in Europe one day,” Donn said as the team was preparing for their league game against Maritzburg United.
Kaitano Tembo has been at Supersport United for well over twenty years and Donn can also see himself spending a similar amount of time in the blue colours of Matsatsantsa A Pitori.
“At the moment I must say that I am very happy at Supersport. If it means playing out my whole career here then I would be happy to do that,” explained the 22-year-old who has already bagged a couple of Man of the Match awards.
Donn’s coach, Kaitano Tembo is equally happy with the player’s development so far at the club and has revealed that he saw the successor to another great United midfielder in Donn when they scouted him at Ubuntu.
“When we first saw him, we saw the successor to Dean Furman straightaway. We needed to give him time just like the rest of the youngsters and now he has his chance,” Tembo explained.
Supersport United take on Maritzburg United at home, with the KwaZulu-Natal side expected to be in buoyant mood after beating Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening. The DSTV Premiership game is scheduled to kick off at 5 pm on Saturday the 25th of September in Atteridgeville, Pretoria.
