Wubetu Abate, the Ethiopia national team coach, has announced a 25-man team for the showdown with group leaders, South Africa. The doubleheader against Bafana Bafana will go a long way in shaping the structure of the tight group going forward. Only the group leaders will advance to the play-off round for a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Red hot Abubeker Nasir and veteran Getaneh Kebede lead the forward line. Midfield kingpin Shimeles Bekele, who has just made a move to Egypt’s FC Gouna, has been included in the squad.

Ethiopia have three points, a point behind their next opponents, and will look to cement their implacable home record on the 8th of October before heading to South Africa four days later.
