Striker Samir Nurkovic, midfielders Phathutshedzo Nange and Kgaogelo Sekgota are the latest additions to Kaizer Chiefs’ busy sickbay as the Soweto giants prepare to face Marumo Gallants in the DStv Premiership.
Serbian Nurkovic has had a niggling injury for some time and it has been decided that he should go under the knife.
“I have had this injury niggling me for a while now. The medical team felt it was best to get the operation done. Further assessments will be done after the operation,” the mercurial forward told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
Phathutshedzo Nange was taken off in the first half forgettable league game against Royal AM and is expected to be out of action for at least two weeks with an inner thigh injury. The midfielder has an injured abductor.
The Kaizer Chiefs medical team is waiting on the results of a scan done on Kgaogelo Sekgota, who needed stitches on his ankle after a challenge in that Royal AM loss.
The trio adds on to an injury list that includes Leonardo Castro, Dumisani Zuma and Siyabonga Ngezana. Castro is said to be progressing well and has started running. The club expects defender Siyabonga Ngezana to be in full training by mid-October as he is now in the final phase of rehabilitation. Zuma, meanwhile, is in the early stages of rehabilitation.
Kaizer Chiefs will look to the rest of the squad to re-ignite their season with a win against bottom-of-the-table Marumo Gallants.
