TS Galaxy FC recently had a coaching room overhaul, and one of the casualties was popular fitness trainer Simone Conley. The official word from the club was Conley resigned. The down-to-earth Bioketics graduate has come to spill the beans on her departure from the DSTV Premiership club.

“Truth be told, I did not make that decision. I don’t know if I’d be correct in saying it’s an error that people think I resigned. I was actually called in and handed a contract termination letter,” Simone told POWERFM SPORTS.

The revelation by Conley, who has done amazing work in a male-dominated industry, flies in the face of what club spokesman Minehle Mkhize told the same radio and various other media outlets. Mkhize confirmed Conley and Assistant Coach Shuan Bartlett had ‘resigned with immediate effect.’ Speculation in media circles was that the duo could not work with the new head coach.

“I am the person who was handed a termination letter, I have it, and that is basically how it happened,” stated Conley. The club’s interpretation of what happened is different.

“I was very interesting learning from him(Ramovic). I was interested in seeing what type of coaching style he has and how he would do things. Yes, during the week, without a doubt, I did feel a bit understimulated, a little bit side-lined if I were to put it that way. It was a situation where we had to basically take a step back and follow what the coach wanted,” explained Conley, who has largely been credited with the resurrection of Gift Motupa and the fitness of goal-machine, Peter Shalulile.

Shaun Bartlett’s resignation, undoubtedly, will now raise a few eyebrows. However, it is part of the game. When a new coach comes in, there will be a few shocks to the system. Conley was not overly shocked after being after fired.

“When I was told not to report to the video session that the team was to have on the Monday, I kind of saw it coming,” explained Conley.

Simone Conley has paid her dues in South Africa football, and she will undoubtedly land on her feet.

“God will plant me where he needs me at the end of the day.”
