Marumo Gallants owner, Abram Sello has confirmed the acquisition of struggling Moroka Swallows. On what will be welcome news for fans, the club’s home games will be played in Bloemfontein.
Marumo Gallants return to the DSTV Premiership under yet another status after being relegated in 2023. It was a bitter-sweet season as the club made a brilliant run in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Moroka Swallows rose from the ashes and spent a number of years trying to get the club’s original name. It is another sad day for the pioneering club’s long-suffering supporters, who must now wait for further news from the club’s former owners.
After failing to find a sponsor for the club, with Telkom being rejected by the league, Moroka Swallows struggled to meet the financial needs of running a DSTV Premiership club. Players went on strike at one point. This resulted in Swallows forfeiting two league matches.
