Mamelodi Sundowns add Folz to the technical team

Mamelodi Sundowns have added another coach to the technical team ahead of the upcoming season. Former AmaZulu FC head coach, Romain Folz has joined the reigning African Football League champions.

“Mamelodi Sundowns has appointed Romain Folz as an Assistant Coach in the first team and joins Manqoba Mngqithi, Steve Komphela, Wendell Robinson, and Kennedy Mweene in the Technical Department,” said a statement from the club.

The 34-year-old Frenchman, who hails from Bordeaux in France, has already joined the rest of the team for pre-season. Mamelodi Sundowns are in Austria preparing for yet another league title defence.

Folz was working at FIFA’s High-Performance Department before making the switch back to South Africa. Besides South Africa, Folz has previously worked in Guinea, Botswana, and Ghana.

Sundowns have been re-building the technical team after the departure of Rhulani Mokwena and a few backroom staff. Folz’s continental experience and UEFA Pro license should add value to the club in the search for African football dominance.
