CANAL+ Secures AFCON 2027 Rights as SuperSport Set to Broadcast Qualifiers and Finals
Football fans across Sub-Saharan Africa will be able to follow the road to AFCON PAMOJA 2027 and the tournament itself on SuperSport after CANAL+ secured the broadcast rights for the qualifiers and finals.
The agreement covers the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 qualifying campaign and the 24-team finals, which will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The qualifiers feature 48 nations divided into 12 groups of four, with teams battling across six matchdays for places at next year’s continental showpiece.
The opening two matchdays run until 6 October, before the remaining fixtures are played in November and March 2027.
Super Eagles Begin With Victory
Nigeria are among the teams already in action, with the Super Eagles opening their Group L campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in Uyo on Friday.
George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor were on target for Nigeria, with both players making their mark in their first competitive appearances for the national team.
The Super Eagles continue their qualifying campaign against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on Wednesday at 5pm.
With SuperSport carrying the competition across Sub-Saharan Africa, supporters will have access to the qualifying campaign as teams fight for their places at the finals.
CANAL+ Highlights African Football Reach
CANAL+ Africa Chief Executive David Mignot said the agreement would allow supporters to follow the competition from the opening stages of qualification through to the finals.
“We are thrilled to bring the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 Qualifiers and the tournament itself to SuperSport,” Mignot said.
He described the deal as an opportunity to bring the stories, rivalries and national-team campaigns of African football closer to supporters across the continent.
The agreement also expands CANAL+’s coverage in French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, with the qualifiers set to be available in French across more than 20 countries.
East Africa Ready for AFCON 2027
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly host AFCON PAMOJA 2027 from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
The tournament will be the first AFCON to be jointly staged by three countries and will return the competition to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted the finals in 1976.
The 2027 edition will feature 24 teams, with the qualifying campaign now providing the first step towards reaching the continental finals.
For supporters, the CANAL+ agreement means the journey from qualification to the AFCON 2027 finals will be available on SuperSport across Sub-Saharan Africa.
