We Wanted More – Kadri

Tunisia coach Jalel Kadri has revealed he wanted more than tan the precious one point Tunisia collected against Denmark at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Kadri and the Carthage Eagles garnered Africa’s first point of the tournament with a 0-0 draw against a country ranked 10th in the world.

Another trademark dogged defensive performance ensured Kadri’s charges kept a clean sheet.

“The players showed they are in good shape physically, and they have ernomous qualities. I think we deserved this point even if we wanted more,” Kadri said after Tunisia’s first group game.

Kadri would certainly want more from his team in terms of goals. Only one was on target from the 12 shots taken at goal by Tunisia. This has been the Achilles for the North Africans for quite some time now, with the defence remaining the solid backbone of most Tunisian national teams.

“We lacked a bit of efficiency. We must score goals and not just have chances. We did our best. We tried to imprint our identity in this game. We want to pass this round, and we remain quite optimistic that we will get there, ” Kadri noted.

Tunisia players were valiant and committed physically in their tackles, remaining tactically sound throughout the game against the Danes. With France beating Australia, Tunisia now shares the second spot with Denmark and will be hoping for a full haul of points against the Kangaroos of Australia.

“It goes without saying that after this type of match, the whole team learns. We knew we were playing against a big team in the tournament . The team played well, and I congratulate them,” said Kadri after collecting what could be a telling point in this intriguing 2022 FIFA World Cup.
