No More Fans For FAR Rabat
After 160 injuries and 160 arrests that included at least 90 minors, the Royal Morocco Football Federation has decided that FAR Rabat will play out the rest of the season without its fans.
FAR Rabat fans invaded the pitch after the team’s elimination from the Throne Cup at the hands of Moghreb de Fes. The ensuing clashes left 103 police officers injured as the two opposing fan bases went head to head. Stadium seats were used as weapons in the war which saw different types of projectiles fly through the air in all directions.
The fans of FAR Rabat are also not allowed to travel for away matches as part of the sanctions handed down by RMFF. For their part in the melee, Moghreb de Fes supporters are shut out for two games. Both clubs received monetary fines of more than 11,000 euros.
This was the first major incident since fans were allowed back into stadiums in Morocco football.
