Koller Reflects On “Great” Ismaily Result
Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller has hailed the 3-1 win over Ismaily as a great result but expressed reservations about the performance of his team.
“It was a great result but it does not reflect the course of the match,” Koller said after seeing his team pick their second league win of the season.
Percy Tau’s second brace of the season saw him take the Man of the Match award and take his league tally to four goals in two matches. Hussein El Shahat netted the other goal for The Red Devils who now sit fifth on the log standings, with a game-in-hand over every team ahead of them.
“We had some problems in the first half. Ismaily scored due recklessness,” noted the 62-year-old Swiss coach while refusing to acknowledge any defensive problems with the team.
“We do not have defensive problems. If we had defensive problems we would have lost the match,” stressed Koller.
Ismaily scored their consolation late in the game through Yaw Annor and sit in 11th position with three points from three games.
Al Ahly’s next two games are against Tanzanian club Simba SC in the new continental competition, the African Football League.
