Kaizer Chiefs FC has been slapped with yet another fine because of fans who have gone against the club’s motto of peace and love. The PSL has also warned of a potential spectator lockout should the abhorrent behaviour of throwing objects onto the pitch continue.
“You would remember that a few weeks ago Kaizer Chiefs were found guilty of the same offence and they were issued a monetary fine of R100,000.00, of which R70,000.00 was to be payable effectively and R30,000.00 suspended on condition that in the next 12 months they are not to be found guilty of the same offence again,” explained Zola Majavu, the PSL Prosecutor.
It only took the band of unruly fans a few weeks to commit the same fine, which means Kaizer Chiefs must now pay R30,000.00 over and above the penalty for these latest transgressions which were treated as one crime by the PSL Disciplinary Committee.
The PSL has fined Amakhosi R200,000.00, of which R50,000.00 is suspended for a period of six months. If coach Ntseki can somehow keep the team winning, then the Motaungs might be able to keep that 50k in the club’s bank account. So effectively, Chiefs must now pay a fine of R180,000.00 plus the cost of the Disciplinary Committee seating.
Zola Majavu also warned of a possible spectator lockout.
“Over and above that, and as a mark of the league’s displeasure at the behaviour of these few fans, they(Kaizer Chiefs) were further ordered with an automatic spectator ban at the next match in the event that were to be found guilty of the same offence during the next six months,” Majavu explained.
The Disciplinary Committee has urged all the Premier Soccer League clubs to do all that is necessary to educate fans against errant behaviour such as pelting coaches and players.
