Shaun Bartlett has become the first coaching casualty of the 2023/4 DSTV Premiership season. Bartlett also becomes the first coach to suffer seven defeats in the first seven games in the season in the PSL era.
“Following an extensive review and discussions with Shaun Bartlett and taking into consideration the current set of results- we have mutually agreed to the termination of the Head Coaches contract with immediate effect,” a statement from Cape Town Spurs FC read.
Bartlett showed loyalty to the squad that came victoriously from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, but DSTV Premiership terrain has proved a step too high so far.
The club thanked Bartlett for his services and wished him well in the future. It is highly likely that Sean Connor, who was appointed Head of Football recently, will take over.
