CHAN 2022 List Finalised
The CHAN 2022 list of teams has been finalised. Originally scheduled for this year, the African Nations Championship(CHAN) will be hosted by Algeria in January 2023. The Confederation of African Football increased the number of teams to 18, with qualifiers happening in zones.
CHAN 2022 is one of the tournaments that was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is set to run from 13 January to 4 February 2023. It will be the seventh edition of the tournament open to national team players based inside the country.
The draw for the tournament will take place on the 1st of October in Algeria.
A notable absentee will be Zimbabwe, which along with Kenya, is suspended from international football due to government interference. Mozambique, Angola, and Madagascar will represent the South Zone at CHAN 2022 with Zambia and South Africa faring badly in yet another qualifying campaign.
Uganda will be making their sixth appearance at CHAN and will be joined by Sudan which has finished in third place twice. Ethiopia will grace the occasion for the third time, looking for something better than a group stage exit.
Morocco goes into CHAN 2022 looking for a hat-trick of wins after winning the 2018 and 2020 editions.
