FECAFOOT, the Cameroon Football Association, has called an Emergency Committee meeting, and is unhappy with the latest CCA decisions. The Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration, CCA, decided to suspend newly-appointed head coach, Marc Brys and his technical team. FECAFOOT is breathing fire.

“The immediate consequence of these decisions taken in violation of all legal and regulatory provisions is the suspension with immediate effect of the staff of the Indomitable Lions, headed by Mr. Marc BRYS, Coach-Selector. FECAFOOT reserves the right to transmit to FIFA these decisions which constitute an obstacle to the process of preparing the next sporting events. The FECAFOOT Emergency Committee will meet without delay to take appropriate action on these actions,” Me Blaise Djounang, the Secretary General of Fécafoot wrote in a statement.

FECAFOOT statement on the CCA decision to suspend national team head coach and his technical team

The CCA ruling comes after complaints from the Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC), and the Cameroon Professional Football League (LFPC) about the legality of the technical appointments. Brys was appointed by the Cameroon Sports Ministry and FECAFOOT reluctantly endorsed the coach and appointed a technical team for him. A provisional squad has already been named for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

FECAFOOT’s threat to inform FIFA of the latest development might see the West African football giants suspended by the world football governing body. FIFA had already expressed reservations about the government making coaching appointments. CCA’s intervention can be seen as government interference which is frowned upon by FIFA. Zimbabwe and Kenya spent long periods in the football wilderness after commissions set up by their governments made footballing decisions.
