Ricardo Goss of Supersport United, AmaZulu FC’s Velile Mothwa, and Sipho Chaine from Orlando Pirates will fight it out for a starting berth in the Bafana Bafana squad. The three goalkeepers were named in the final squad to play Uganda and South Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Belgian coach Hugo Broos named a squad that does not include number one goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams. The Mamelodi Sundowns star is recovering from injury, leaving Bafana Bafana without a captain for the two AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

“If you have a guy like Ronwen who will not be with us in the two games, that is a big problem. He is not just a good goalkeeper, he is also a good captain,” Broos said announcing the squad which is expected to collect six on the road to Morocco next December.

Apart from Williams, Broos has kept the core of the squad that has been doing duty for South Africa in the recent past. Kaizer Chiefs fans have something to smile about after new signing Rudwon Dontley made the cut.

The Bafana Bafana home qualifier against Uganda will be played at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
