The Premier Soccer League, PSL, has provided alternative dates for league games featuring Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. With the two top clubs involved in the CAF Champions League, the league has pro-actively penciled in Betway Premiership dates for the clubs.
Unlike previous seasons, Sundowns and Pirates fans will know beforehand when their club will play, should there be a clash with CAF Champions League fixtures.
In a fixtures list released on Thursday morning, all the games clashing with potential CAF Interclub dates have an alternative date. The opening day Tshwane Derby featuring Sundowns and Supersport will be played on Tuesday 14 September, should Mamelodi Sundowns be involved in a CAF Champions League match.
It is a major shift for the PSL, who have faced challenges whenever South African clubs have progressed in CAF competitions. This year’s season is starting later than usual after the takeover by Betway as the new league sponsor.
