Tino Kadewere clears the air on his Warriors future amid retirement rumours

Tino Kadewere, the Zimbabwe Warriors striker, has finally cleared the air on wide speculation that he retired from the national team. The Nantes forward explained his social media post that triggered the grapevine.

After two defeats with the Warriors against Lesotho and South Africa, Kadewere posted something that had the Warriors’ fans thinking he was retiring. The 28-year-old posted, “Last dance, and I don’t want to die” with a picture of him wearing the Zimbabwe national team jersey.

“This quote meant the last dance of the season because those games were the last two matches of my campaign. The season in France had ended, but I still had two more games to play with the Warriors,” explained Kadewere on the Olla 7 Podcast.

Kadewere went on holiday with his family immediately after the two World Cup qualifiers. The lanky forward admits he knew about the speculation surrounding his Warriors future.

“So this was my last dance of the season before I rest. That’s why I went on a holiday with my family soon after playing those matches. People started speculating about my future, and I knew about it, but I chose to ignore,” Kadewere said.

Despite the recent underwhelming performances, Tino Kadewere is expected back in the Zimbabwe national team for the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
