The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has expressed concern at the situation in South African football, but will not be making any moves against Dr Danny Jordan or SAFA yet.
This comes after SAFA house was raided by law enforcement agents recently. The South African Football Association has already issued a statement condemning the raid by the Hawks. While noting the raid, CAF is not going to impose any sanction on the SAFA administration.
“Whilst the allegations made by the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit are serious, in line with international legal principles and jurisprudence, SAFA and Dr Danny Jordaan are presumed to be innocent until an appropriate Judicial Body concludes otherwise,” read a statement from the continental football governing body.
Dr Jordaan allegedly used SAFA funds for his own personal activities, including hiring security. Around 1.8 millions rands is reportedly involved in the case which is now in the hands of the Hawks.
“CAF is looking into this matter based on and in accordance with the CAF and FIFA Statutes and Regulations and has requested SAFA to provide CAF with a Report,” continued the media release by CAF.
