Kaizer Chiefs and car manufacturer, Toyota have extended their partnership with the announcement of a pre-season cup called the Toyota Cup. Tanzania league champions, Young Africans have been invited to play the Soweto giants at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein this year.
“The launch of this unique cup signifies our commitment to our customers, who we know have a strong passion for sport. Working closely with our partners Kaizer Chiefs and Young Africans, we look forward to a memorable 2024 Toyota Cup,” said Leon Theron, the Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota South Africa.
The first edition of the Toyota Cup will kick off at 3pm on 28 July. The Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein is expected to be packed, with a Kaizer Chiefs Legends versus Bloemfontein Celtic Legends match as the main curtain raiser. Tickets start at R40 and also serve as an entry to a competition to win a brand new Toyota Cross XI CVT.
“In Yanga, our club has found synergies that align to our objective of enhancing the African football brand, and through the Toyota Cup we look forward to collectively working together in achieving this,” the Marketing Director at Kaizer Chiefs, Jessica Motaung explained at the launch which took place in Johannesburg.
The Kaizer Chiefs team is currently in Turkey for a pre-season camp with a new technical team headed by Nassredine Nabi. Both teams will be showcasing their new signings at the much-anticipated game.
