Uganda go top of the group as South Africa kickstart CHAN campaign
Uganda continued the good run by this year’s host countries at CHAN with a victory over struggling Niger. The Uganda Cranes are now top of Group C and are heading to the knockout stages.
Starboy Allan Okello saw his penalty saved before heading in the opening goal at a sold out Nelson Mandela National Stadium. Joel Sserunjogi put the finishing touches to a wonderful night for the co-hosts with an emphatic finish early in the second half.

South Africa breathed new life into their CHAN 2024 campaign with a well deserved 2-1 victory over a lucklustre Guinea. Captain Neo Maema put Bafana Bafana in the lead with a calm, well taken finish early in the game. Moussa Camara gave the Slyi Nation hope with a quality finish of his own before Thabiso Kutumelo secured the points with first time strike in the second half. It was Kutumelo’s second goal of the tournament.
Guinea and Niger are now heading out of the tournament.
