Pirates make it two out of two, Siwelele brought back to earth as Downs return
Orlando Pirates made it two defeats in two games in the Betway Premiership with an away loss to Marumo Gallants. Siwelele FC were brought back down to earth by a gritty Orbit College, while the defending champions returned to winning ways.
Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou benched the reigning Defender of the Season and the Midfielder of the Season for the trip to Bloemfontein. That roll of the dice did not pay dividends as a late Jaisen Clifford goal gave Gallants their second win of the season.
Zimbabwean Daniel Msendami had cancelled out Patrick Maswanganyi’s opener in the first half to leave the game looking like a beautiful draw. The result led to a social media frenzy with Orlando Pirates fans calling for the coach’s head. Things will only get worse on the Bucs’ ship if Kaizer Chiefs were to win on Wednesday night.

Orbit College brought Siwelele FC back down to Earth with a 1-0 defeat. Letsie Koapeng struck late in the second half to partly silence the Siwelele faithful.
In Pretoria, Mamelodi Sundowns added three points to their opening day haul of one point. It was back to business for Coach Miguel Cardoso’s men as they eased past AmaZulu FC. Iqraam Rayners and Tashreeq Matthews settled the Masandawana nerves with goals in the second half.
