Pirates Confirm Maswanganyi’s Move to Bahrain

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of fan favourite Patrick Maswanganyi, with the midfielder joining Bahrain Premier League side Alkhaldiya Sports Club.

The Buccaneers announced that an agreement had been reached with the Bahraini club for the transfer of the 28-year-old playmaker, bringing an end to his time in the famous black and white jersey.

Maswanganyi, affectionately known as “Tito”, remained part of Pirates’ plans for the season, but the player expressed a desire to pursue a new chapter in his career abroad.

After discussions involving Maswanganyi and his representatives, the Soweto giants agreed to grant him the opportunity.

Pirates Respect Tito’s Wish

In a statement, Pirates said they decided not to stand in the player’s way after considering both his contribution to the club and his ambitions.

The creative midfielder leaves having established himself as one of the club’s most popular players and a key figure during a successful period for the Buccaneers.

Maswanganyi departs Orlando Pirates as a league champion, having given supporters plenty to celebrate with his creativity, skill and influence on the pitch.

The club also praised the midfielder for the pride and commitment he showed while representing the Buccaneers.

“Tito” now begins a new adventure in Bahrain, where he will join Alkhaldiya Sports Club in the Bahrain Premier League.

Orlando Pirates thanked Maswanganyi for his service and wished him success as he takes the next step in his career.
