AFCON 2027 Is Coming Home to East Africa — And CAF Just Signed Off on the Venues
For the first time in over 50 years, the Africa Cup of Nations is returning to East Africa — and CAF has just wrapped up an eight-day inspection tour to make sure Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are ready to deliver it.
PAMOJA 2027 (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) runs 19 June – 17 July 2027, and CAF’s delegation — covering competitions, security, transport, marketing, media and logistics — spent over a week checking the venues that’ll host it.
What they inspected:
- Kenya: the brand-new 60,000-seater Talanta Stadium in Nairobi, plus training venues, team hotels and airport facilities
- Uganda: Mandela National Stadium in Kampala
- Tanzania: Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam
The three countries aren’t starting from scratch either — they already ran a successful joint CHAN 2024, and LOC officials were part of CAF’s observer mission at this year’s AFCON in Morocco to learn matchday operations first-hand.
It’s still early days on the inspection front — this is part of an ongoing programme, not a final sign-off — but the infrastructure is taking real shape almost two years out.
