AshantiGold dismiss Zito and two technical staff members

FC AshantiGold 04 have terminated the contracts of head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeepers’ trainer Robert Dabo.

Ghana News Agency reports that the club announced the decision on Tuesday, 27 October, following an Interim Management Committee meeting the previous day.

The departures took immediate effect. No reasons were provided in the statement quoted by the agency.

AshantiGold said a caretaker coach had been appointed while the club works towards naming a substantive head coach and technical director.

Zito had joined ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign after leaving Asante Kotoko.

The decision leaves the club managing a substantial technical-team transition during the early part of the season. Its next permanent appointment will determine the direction of preparations beyond the interim arrangement.

For now, the confirmed development is the departure of three officials. The club has not publicly explained the decision in the statement reviewed.
