CAF president Patrice Motsepe says a decision on the future frequency of the Africa Cup of Nations will be announced soon, amid support for returning the competition to a two-year cycle.
CAF had asked its 54 member associations to submit recommendations on whether the tournament should take place every two or four years.
Speaking during a CNN interview in Doha, Motsepe said he had received substantial correspondence from member associations and acknowledged support for a biennial competition.
His comments indicate that the calendar remains under review. They do not constitute a formal announcement that CAF has adopted a new schedule.

For federations, clubs and supporters, the next important step is the publication of the decision and its implementation details.
Until then, a return to the two-year cycle remains a possibility under consideration rather than a confirmed change.
