CAF reported the announcement on Thursday, following President William Ruto’s confirmation of the opening date a day earlier.
The 60,000-capacity venue at Talanta Sports City forms part of Kenya’s preparations to co-host AFCON 2027 with Tanzania and Uganda.
Beyond the attraction of two prominent European clubs, the opening fixture will provide an opportunity to test stadium operations ahead of the continental tournament.
Spectator access, security, broadcasting and matchday logistics will all be important parts of that preparation.
For Kenyan supporters, the announcement adds a major occasion to the build-up towards the country’s first AFCON hosting assignment.
Ticketing arrangements have not been detailed in the CAF report. Supporters should await official sales information before making purchases or travel commitments.
