Broos Names His Bafana Bafana AFCON Preliminary Squad
Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, has announced his preliminary squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The AFCON tournament will be played in Ivory Coast next January after being postponed due to weather conditions in July 2023.
The 50-men team will be culled down by Broos with the final squad being announced on the 28th of December. On the 4th of January Bafana Bafana will start a training camp in Stellenbosch. A training match against neighbours Lesotho is set for the 10th of January before the team leaves for Ivory Coast the next day.
Broos and his charges will not get the amount of preparation time they would have hoped for because the Premier Soccer League has games scheduled until the 31st of December. SAFA and the PSL have thus far failed to come to a compromise over the league games.
AFCON 2023 set to run from January 13 to February 11.
