CAF Drums Up Business Support For AFCON 2023

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has ramped up efforts to get business support for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. CAF and the AFCON 2023 Local Organising Committee hosted a workshop for over 50 businesses in Abidjan to discuss potential commercial partnerships around the continental football tournament.

Football enthusiasts from over 150 countries will descend on Ivory Coast from 13 January to 11 February for the TotalEnergies-sponsored Africa Cup of Nations. The event also attracts thousands of the world’s media personalities.

“The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations is not just an African competition but a global event that attracts hundreds of millions of audiences. Football, being the most popular sport in Africa, is a great platform for many businesses and it was important for CAF and the LOC to spend time with local businesses in Cote d’Ivoire explaining the process and discussing potential opportunities. We are excited about the outcome and the level of interest shown by national and local businesses. We look forward to having more national partners on board,” CAF Commercial Director Hassan Elkamah explained.

CAF is riding on a 17% year-on-year revenue increase wave announced last week at the organisation’s 45th General Assembly. Increases in television rights and sponsorship drove the rise in revenues.
