Chippa Confirm Nwabali Return
Chippa United have confirmed the return of Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The 30-year-old is back in the Eastern Cape after a spell away from the club, where he established himself as one of the Chilli Boys’ most reliable performers.
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Nigerian side Katsina United in 2022 and made 76 appearances for the club before earning widespread recognition with Nigeria.
The experienced shot-stopper enjoyed an impressive 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, producing a series of standout performances as the Super Eagles secured a third-place finish after defeating Egypt on penalties.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return in a statement released on Monday.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys.
“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
Nwabali’s return adds valuable experience to the Chippa squad as preparations continue for the new Betway Premiership season. The Chilli Boys finished 13th last season, ending the campaign four points above the relegation/promotion play-off places
