Ethiopia Demand More Cutting Edge Against Senegal

Ethiopia know they cannot afford another night of missed chances when they take on Senegal on Tuesday, with Yohannes Sahle demanding greater efficiency from his attack.

“At the national team level, you do not teach forwards how to score; they need individual skill.”

Sahle believes defensive organisation can be developed through coaching, but attackers must show the quality and composure to take their opportunities when they arrive.

That will be particularly important against Senegal, who will expect Ethiopia to be punished if they are wasteful in front of goal.

Bayeh looks for a response

Ethiopia captain Yared Bayeh believes the team has learned from the mistakes made against Sudan and is ready to respond.

With the match taking place in Bahir Dar, Bayeh also expects strong support from the Ethiopian fans.

“The pitch is in great condition, and Bahir Dar is well-known for its passionate fans, which will give us a massive moral boost,” he said.

The captain added that Ethiopia’s focus is on correcting the small mistakes from their previous outing and producing a winning performance.

Vieira: Senegal must overcome the challenge

Senegal coach Patrick Vieira expects a difficult encounter and has acknowledged Ethiopia’s progress.

“The Ethiopian national team is strong and improving. Our goal is to win the match.”

Vieira wants his players to show the character required to deal with whatever Ethiopia throws at them.

For the Walias, the challenge is clear: create the chances, take them when they come and make Senegal work for every point.
