Finidi George signing ushers in a new era at Rivers United
Finidi George has signed on as head coach of Rivers United, ushering in a new era in Port Harcourt. It is a marriage of two souls coming from broken relationships. Rivers United could only manage a lowly eighth in the league while George got his fingers burnt as the national team head coach.
“I am honored to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me. I am committed to working hard and making the team win,” George said after putting pen to paper.
The Rivers United faithful will have a chance to meet their new saviour at an unveiling ceremony scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The club is pulling out all the stops to ensure the former Super Eagles star feels welcome.
Finidi George had an illustrious playing career that spanned over 14 years. He holds the UEFA A coaching licence. The former Ajax Amsterdam winger was the Director of International Football at Real Betis and a youth coach at Real Mallorca in Spain’s La Liga.
