GFA open case against Real Tamale United after heavy Dreams FC defeat

The GFA, Ghana Football Association has opened a case against Real Tamale United after the club’s 8-1 defeat to Dreams FC. Although the scoreline was heavy, the case as more to do with the players who turned out for RTU.

“It is alleged that the club RTU intentionally deceived the match officials during said game by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of the club,” read a media advisory note from the GFA.

The matter was brought to light when a player who was in Tamale at the time was highlighted as the goalscorer for RTU. Apparently, the player wrote, “That’s not me, I’m in Tamale.” There is an ongoing strike over unpaid wages which caused the absence of the officially registered players.

Real Tamale United have until Friday, 14 June to respond to the allegations which could see the team booted out of the league.
