Morocco take FUTSAL AFCON to tie record with Egypt

Morocco have won the 2024 FUTSAL AFCON and are now tied for the most wins with Egypt. The Pharaohs could only manage fourth place after losing a penalty shootout to Libya at the tournament hosted by the winners.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco defeated a gallant Angola in the final and will now be joined by Libya as Africa’s representatives at the FUTSAL World Cup. It was Morocco’s third triumph at the continental FUTSAL competition which featured eight nations.

It was a clean sweep of the tournament’s individual awards for Morocco as well. Abdelkrim Anbia was named Best Goalkeeper, while Soufian Charraoui collected the award for top goalscorer, and Bilal Bakkali walked away with the Man of the Competition accolade. Ghana received the Fair Play award.
