The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced the nominees for the 2023/24 PSL Awards. Stellenbosch FC’s stellar season is evidenced by their dominance on the nominations list.

Last season’s winner Teboho Mokoena and teammate Ronwen Williams, stand with Stellenbosch FC striker Iqraam Rayners, for the PSL Footballer of the Season award, which is voted for by the 16 DSTV Premiership coaches.

Williams and Rayners go head to head again for the DStv Premiership Players’ Player of the Season category, joined by Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder, Patrick Maswanganyi in what should be an interesting battle.

Stellenbosch FC’s Steve Barker faces off against Rhulani Mokwena of Mamelodi Sundowns and Jose Riveiro of Orlando Pirates for the Coach of the Season. Mokwena, who sent records tumbling throughout the season, has already stated who he thinks should win.

“The coach of the season is me. I believe the coach of the season should be one who wins the league,” the Mamelodi Sundowns head coach confidently told media after a 1-1 draw secured an unbeaten away record this season.

Orlando Pirates shut out the MTN Last Man Standing nominations with Sipho Chaine, Zakhele Lepasa, and Patrick Maswanganyi. Stellenbosch FC did the same in the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament category, with Thabo Moloisane, Devin Titus, and Rayners all earning nominations.

Maswanganyi and Rayners appear on the list again in the Nedbank Player of the Tournament. Orlando Pirates forward Tshegofatso Mabasa will hope to have his moment in the spotlight for this award. Shandre Campbell of SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng, and Stellenbosch’s Devin Titus will fight for the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player award.

Mofokeng and Campbell will both be hoping to step onto the winners’ pedestal twice in one night after being nominated for the DSTV Premiership Young Player of the Season award. Supersport United’s brilliant Ime Okon joins in to hopefully spoil the party.

Youngster Jody Ah Shene is Cape Town City’s only nomination this year. He stands against Ntando Nkosi of Mamelodi Sundowns and another Stellies nonimee, Langelihle Phili for the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Year award.
