Sowah boost for Medeama ahead of Yanga clash

Medeama SC coach Evans Adotey’s squad selection has been boosted by the return of top striker Jonathan Sowah. The Ghanaians are set to meet in CAF Champions League Group D match with a crucial three points on the line.

While the return of Sowah, who has scored six goals in 13 matches, is a big plus, Adotey will have to do without defender Fatawu Hamidu.

“Apart from Fatawu, who was given two weeks to rest by the team doctor, everyone is set for the game tomorrow,” coach Adotey told a pre-match press conference.

Medeama are looking for a second win in the group stage while Yanga go in search of a first haul of maximum points. With Al Ahly looking dominant, the race for second place needs teams to collect every available point at home games.

Adotey and his charges currently sit on three points, the same number as Algerian club CR Belouizdad, while Yanga have one point from a draw with leaders Al Ahly. Two teams from each group qualify for the quarterfinals.
