The swift appointment lands just hours after Wanderers suspended head coach Bob Mpinganjira with immediate effect, in the wake of Sunday’s shock 2-1 loss to tournament debutants Ekhaya FC — a result that has clearly rattled the club’s leadership.
In a twist that will raise plenty of eyebrows, Mpinganjira’s suspension comes at the same time he has been named head coach of the Malawi Under-23 national team — meaning his Wanderers exit may open the door for him to fully focus on his new assignment with the young Flames.
