Musona Returns to Lead the Line

Musona has scored more than 25 goals for the national team and brings the experience in front of goal that the Warriors need. He last found the net in the 1-1 draw against Angola on 26 December 2025. Highlanders’ Tshuma is also back among the 14 forwards named, a group that includes Walter Musona, Tawanda Chirewa and Tawanda Maswanhise.

The Goalkeeper Question

The goalkeeping department is the main talking point. Zimbabwe have not commented on the omissions, though Chipezeze’s exclusion could be linked to below-par recent performances.

In his place, Catala has named Scottland’s Nelson Chadya, Hardrock’s Martin Mapisa and ZPC Kariba’s Future Sibanda. Chadya could become the new number one after keeping 21 clean sheets in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, a single-season record for Scottland.

Scottland have eight players in the group: Chadya, Kelvin Moyo, Peter Muduhwa, Emmanuel Jalai, Abubakar Moffat, Mthokozisi Msebe and both Musonas. That familiarity with the defenders in front of him could count in Chadya’s favour.

The squad is provisional, though, and Mapisa and Sibanda will compete for the gloves in training. Catala has not said who will start.
