Tunisia Announce 28-Man Squad for AFCON 2025 as Ali Maaloul Returns for Fifth Tournament

Tunisia have confirmed their 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with veteran left-back Ali Maaloul earning a notable recall as the Carthage Eagles gear up for a tough Group C campaign.

The 35-year-old defender, who returned to the national setup this year after nearly two years away, is set for his fifth AFCON appearance, bringing leadership and much-needed experience to Sami Trabelsi’s side.

Head coach Sami Trabelsi has opted for a balanced squad built on continuity, keeping his trusted defensive and midfield core intact. The return of influential midfielders Ellyes Skhiri and Hannibal Sliti adds quality and composure, while established names like Ferjani Sassi and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane ensure stability in the centre of the park.

In attack, Tunisia will look to the likes of Seifeddine Jaziri, Elias Saad, and Sebastian Tounekti to provide creativity and goals as they navigate one of the competition’s trickiest groups.

Tunisia open their AFCON journey on 23 December in Rabat against Uganda, before taking on heavyweights Nigeria and a competitive Tanzania outfit.

This will be the Carthage Eagles’ 17th consecutive AFCON appearance, extending their tournament-record streak as they seek to build momentum and re-establish themselves among the continent’s elite.
