All four Group A teams therefore finished the opening round with one point and identical goal differences.
For Sundowns, the draw provided a foothold in the competition without delivering the winning start they wanted against opponents who defeated them at the 2024 tournament.
Neither opening fixture produced a breakthrough, leaving the contest for the group’s two semi-final places evenly balanced.
Sundowns next face Lekié Football Filles on Wednesday, 4 November, while Masar meet FUS Rabat.
Those fixtures offer the first opportunity for a team to establish a points advantage after an opening day in which all four clubs preserved clean sheets.
The South African side remain firmly in contention, but will now seek the attacking breakthrough needed to turn their first point into a stronger qualification position.
