Points Deduction Cost Us – Magera
SC Villa coach, Jackson Magera believes the two points deducted from the club is what ultimately cost them the league title. A 1-0 loss to URA FC on the last day of the season saw SC Villa lose out to Vipers SC, but Magera cites the boardroom loss as the main culprit.
“Those two points cost us the title in the end. We had worked for those points; they were not from the particular match that had fans violence,” lamented Magera on NBS Sport.
SC Villa was sanctioned for fan misconduct in the league game against Wakiso Giants which ended in a 2-0 defeat. Police had to use teargas to disperse disgruntled supporters who threw objects onto the pitch. Wakiso Giants’ medical doctor was injured in the melee.
Magera’s charges finished third behind KCCA FC and champions Vipers. The two deducted points would have seen the team finish a point above the winners.
“We already had those points in the bag. Two points in the Super League, you rather ask someone to walk to Masaka and back but leave them with the points,” Magera pointed out.
SC Villa’s search for a first league title in the club’s history will have to start again next season.
