Bafana begin AFCON 2027 campaign against Guinea at Orlando Stadium

Orlando Amstel Arena will be the setting for Bafana Bafana’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match when South Africa host Guinea on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The Soweto venue has a capacity of 37,139 and will welcome Bafana back after their most recent appearance there, when they faced Nicaragua in an international friendly in May.
The match will also mark the start of Pitso Mosimane’s second spell in charge of the national team following the departure of Hugo Broos.
Mosimane returns to Bafana with an impressive club record behind him. During his time at Mamelodi Sundowns, he won five league titles and guided the club to their first CAF Champions League triumph in 2016. He later added two more Champions League titles during his time at Egyptian side Al Ahly.
The Guinea clash will provide Mosimane with his first competitive test as he begins another chapter with the national team.
SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan has called on supporters to get behind the team as Mosimane begins his tenure.
“We encourage families and fans to come in their numbers to support the team as we begin this new era under coach Pitso Mosimane,” Jordaan said.
Bafana will then travel to Cairo to face Eritrea at the Al-Salam Stadium on Wednesday, 30 September, before taking on Egypt in an international friendly at Cairo International Stadium on 4 October.
Tickets for the Guinea match are available at R100 for adults and R40 for children under 12. Child tickets must be purchased alongside at least one adult ticket.
