No Coach Is Done In DSTV Premiership Transfers

There is no coach saying they’re done in the transfer market for the 2023/4 DSTV Premiership season. All the coaches present at the launch of the upcoming season are still looking for players to bolster the squads.

“Any coach that tells you they’re done in the transfer market will be telling you lies,” said straight-talking Gavin Hunt of Supersport. Matsatsantsa A Pitori are targeting a top-four finish and a good CAF Confederation Cup run.

“We can never stop looking, and you can’t turn down a good player if one comes along,” the good-natured AmaZulu FC coach, Pablo Franco pointed out. Usuthu might still add Malawian Gabaldinho Mhango to the squad.

The sentiments were echoed by all the coaches as the clubs look to end Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance of the DSTV Premiership. Only John Maduka of Royal AM will have to do with what he has because the club has a FIFA transfer ban to deal with. The reigning champions, who are on a pre-season camp in Europe, were represented by coach David Notoane.

“You know a few years ago nobody thought Lewis Hamilton could be caught, but here came Verstappen. Red Bull re-invented their car and now Lewis Hamilton is nowhere to be seen. It’s up to the other 15 teams, but we are happy with the squad and the team looks good,” Notoane said at the launch held in Multichoice City, Randburg.

One journalist mentioned Karim Kimvuidi to coach Jose Riviero by mistake when asking about the players going to Orlando Pirates. The surprised look and shock on the Spanish coach’s face should actually win an acting award because barely an hour later it was revealed that the Congolese is indeed joining Bucs.
