Preparation Was Key For Us – Truter
Sekhukhune United FC coach, Brendon Truter believes that preparation played a key role in ensuring the club’s progression to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time. With the team playing in trying conditions, it was important that everybody was ready.
“Preparation was key for us, both mentally and physically but we also have some experienced players that played in this competition before,” Truter told the media after a crucial 1-1 draw in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It was the first time most of the squad had played on an astroturf field in very hot conditions. Leading 3-1 from the first leg, Truter’s men had to guard against the early goal from Saint Eloi Lupopo.
“When they scored first we had to change our tactics,” explained Truter.
Sekhukhune will now wait for the official draw on the 6th of October to find out who they will dance with in the group stage of the 2023/4 CAF Confederation Cup.
