Betway Boosts ROWSA Preparations

Betway has boosted Rowing South Africa’s (ROWSA) RMB national squad’s latest phase of preparations.

Super Group-owned, Betway South Africa, through its Enterprise Development partner, Awaneo Management and Consulting has once again taken a step towards advancing the growth of rowing through a significant financial investment into the RMB National Squad’s training camp currently taking place in Tzaneen over the next month.

The investment into the RMB National Squad is in addition to Betway and Awaneo’s initial investment made into the sport through revamping the Roodeplaat dam jetties last year.

Welcoming the investment from Betway and Awaneo, ROWSA’s International Commission Chairman, Warren Bolttler said the assistance comes at an opportune time where they need all the backing and resources that they can get in order to prepare a team that can proudly represent the country this year at the World Rowing Championships in Prague and into the build-up and qualification events for the Olympic games in Paris in 2024.

“Our National rowing team continues to punch above its weight when it comes to performing on the international rowing stage. The professionalism and dedication exhibited by the coaches and athletes can only be enabled by our sponsors and other supporters, in particular RMB as our anchor sponsor since 2016, now joined by Betway in 2022 who have stepped in to financially support one of the most important elements of the training program, being the training camps, and the improvements to the facilities at the RMB National Squad’s training facility at Roodeplaat Dam. We look forward to continuing this mutually beneficial partnership with Betway.”

Betway SA Marketing Manager, David Rachidi said the brand remains committed to its goal of growing sport across all fronts and such an investment is the brand’s clear demonstration of this.

“Rowing, unlike the more popular sporting codes does not receive the necessary support to meet their objectives. However, like all sport, Rowing plays a very critical role in society and provides a number of athletes, coaches and the like to express their talent, as a result, we take great pride in playing such a role in helping to elevate the sport” said Rachidi.

In addition to contributing to the RMB National squad’s preparations, the investment will also go into putting in place the additional infrastructure to water and plumbing upgrades to the Roodeplaat Dam, which will play host to the World Masters Rowing Regatta next year.

Awaneo Management & Consulting Managing Director, Matt Fendick also expressed his appreciation to Betway for their continued support:

“Awaneo is once again thrilled to have received the backing of Betway in support of Rowing South Africa and the deserving National athletes. The Federation and RMB National Squad members have continued to deliver on the international stage across all age groups, which is remarkable given the constraints faced compared to their competitors’ access to finances, resources and facilities. We are delighted to have made a difference, in partnership with Betway, through our ongoing joint projects”, said Fendick.
