Dynamos to Receive Chibuku Super Cup Prize — But Disciplinary Case Will Decide Final Amount
Dynamos are finally set to receive their Chibuku Super Cup winnings this week, but the payment comes with uncertainty as the club must first face the PSL Disciplinary Committee over allegations of misconduct.
DeMbare won the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup after beating Triangle United 1–0 in the final at Gibbo Stadium on November 22, earning US$75,000 in prize money. However, unlike the other participating teams, Dynamos’ payout has been withheld pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing.
Why the Money Was Delayed
Dynamos stand accused of delaying the final by 20 minutes after disputing the number of match balls to be used. Their actions allegedly disrupted match proceedings and contravened PSL regulations.
The club’s technical team — including Kelvin Kaindu, Thomas Ruzive, Takesure Chinyama, and Thulani Muzambwa — has been summoned to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on Thursday, December 11.
Sources indicate that the club has already pleaded guilty, meaning the verdict will likely determine whether they receive the full US$75,000 or a reduced amount.
PSL: Payment Depends on the Verdict
PSL CEO Rodwell Thabe confirmed that Dynamos are the only team yet to be paid.
“We have paid everyone except Dynamos because they have a pending case. We are not saying they will lose the case, but procedure requires us to withhold the money until judgment,”
said Thabe.
He added that the ruling will be delivered in the coming days, after which the league will release the funds — minus any fines imposed, if applicable.
Dynamos Seek Clarity
Club chairman Moses Maunganidze said they are still waiting for official communication regarding the payment timeline:
“We are yet to receive the funds; as to why, we are not sure. We have already asked the PSL for clarification.”
PSL’s Official Charge Sheet
According to a letter dated December 3, the club and its officials face charges of:
- Disorderly conduct
- Disturbing normal match proceedings
- Ignoring lawful instructions
- Bringing the league into disrepute
The hearing is set for December 11 at 17:30 at the PSL offices.
Prize Money Needed Urgently
Dynamos are reportedly under pressure to settle outstanding bonuses, making the Chibuku payout crucial for the club’s finances.
Whether they receive the full amount or a reduced figure now hinges entirely on Thursday’s disciplinary ruling.
