Eto’o Hits Back At Detractors
Samuel Eto’o, the Cameroon FA president, has hit back at detractors bent on removing him from the presidency of FECAFOOT. Eto’o said those trying to eliminate want to continue with the disastrous work that destroyed Cameroonian football.
“Some believed that by getting closer to the president of FECAFOOT they would get free passes. False! We defend the interests of footballers,” warned Eto’o.
A group of football bigwigs has opened a judicial process against the former African Player of the Year for matters ranging from accountability to match-fixing. FIFA opened an investigation after receiving complaints from Cameroon football stakeholders. Eto’o says this will not stop him.
“They try to stop what we are doing, hence the referral to arbitration to get legal elimination of the person who prevents them from continuing the disastrous work which led our football to its poorest point. They flooded the international media with open letters, slanderous and defamtory rumours. They will never succeed in preventing us from continuing our work,” stressed Eto’o.
Since taking over the FECAFOOT presidency, Eto’o has introduced minimum pay for players with clubs who fail to comply risking expulsion from the league.
