Excited Morocco land in Nairobi to become first country in for CHAN 2024
An excited Morocco squad landed in Nairobi, Kenya on Monday to become the first nation to arrive for the highly anticipated African Nations Championship, CHAN. The Atlas Lions won the tournament twice, in 2018 and 2021.
“We are excited to be here and ready for CHAN. I already love Nairobi the weather is great, and we are looking forward to a successful tournament,” said AS FAR defender Marouane Louadni.
Morocco’s prepparations included training matches against Burkina Faso and Chad. A tough group that includes DR Congo, Angola, and Zambia awaits. Co-hosts Kenya complete Group A of the tournament which is set to kick off on 2 August. The Atlas Lions begin their quest for a thrid CHAN title on Sunday against Angola.
It is the first time a major African football tournament is being hosted by three countries. Kenya, Tanzanai, and Uganda, going under the PAMOJA banner, will also host the 2027 Africa of Nations. Confederation of African Football president, Dr Patrice Motsepe has already confirmed he will be in Tanzania on Friday.
CHAN 2024 is set to run from August 2-30.
