Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have been nominated for the 2026 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year award.
The Black Queens are among ten teams shortlisted for the continental honour, alongside Algeria, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa.
The nomination follows Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they reached the quarter-finals before losing 2-1 to Malawi.
Ghana subsequently defeated Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in the African play-offs to keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup alive.
The country also has two individual nominees, with captain Portia Boakye shortlisted for Women’s Player of the Year and goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan nominated for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
The winners will be announced at the CAF Awards ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, on 7 December 2026
