Malawi’s national team, the Scorchers, has also been nominated for Women’s National Team of the Year.

The recognition follows a historic 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco, where Malawi reached the final and secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time.

Temwa Chawinga finished the tournament as leading scorer with five goals, while captain Tabitha played a key role in the Scorchers’ remarkable run.

The winners will be announced at the CAF Awards ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, on 7 December 2026.

Malawi’s five nominations underline the country’s growing influence in African women’s football.
